Our Endowment (Managed by the Taras Shevchenko Foundation)
About the Taras Shevchenko Foundation.
The Ukrainian Canadian Foundation of Taras Shevchenko is a national, chartered philanthropic charity that builds and stewards a permanent endowment for the Ukrainian Canadian community. With independent governance and professional investment management, it has distributed millions in grants across Canada. SUSK’s Endowment is a Designated Fund within the Foundation: the principal is preserved in perpetuity, and only annual investment income is granted to SUSK.
Illustrative annual use of endowment earnings (target):
-
USO Resources — $12,000/year: direct USO funding, staff support, national networks (jobs, internships, point-of-contact for clubs).
-
Events — $6,000/year: SUSK Congress; local networking, seminars, socials.
-
Continuity — $6,000/year: mentoring USOs to manage turnover, strengthening emerging clubs, identifying students to launch new USOs.
Why Your Gift Matters
-
Students. SUSK creates belonging for first-years and newcomers, providing a trusted peer network and hands-on skills (marketing & social media, budgeting, event planning, fundraising).
-
Ukrainian community. Active campus clubs keep youth engaged with the broader community and welcome newcomers from Ukraine.
-
Canadian society. SUSK raises awareness on campuses and in media—strengthening Canada’s multicultural fabric.
-
Legacy & leadership. A sustainable SUSK equips the next generations of Ukrainian Canadian leaders.
Amid Russia’s war, many Ukrainian students in Canada are displaced and under financial and emotional strain. Your donation funds emergency aid, mental-health supports, and education access so they can study, heal, and lead our community forward.
